IVF with Donor Egg

IVF with donor egg is a fertility treatment option for those who are unable to produce healthy eggs for fertilisation for whatever reason. Here the women uses another woman’s eggs (usually a young healthy and fertile donor) which is then fertilized with the male partner’s sperm. The resulting embryo is transferred in the female partner’s uterus, where it gets implanted and results in pregnancy.  Using donor eggs gives the recipient similar odds of success as the young fertile women who donated the eggs.

Egg donor IVF can be done in following situations:

• Age related infertility (most often for women aged 40 years or older with decreased ovarian reserve)

• Genetic disease risk on the female partner’s side

• Primary ovarian insufficiency (also known as premature ovarian failure)

• Post-cancer treatment if the ovaries were damaged or removed

• Repeated cancelled IVF treatment due to poor or low ovarian response

• Unexplained repeated IVF failure

• Woman born without  ovaries due to a congenital anomaly

• A single male with a gestational carrier
