Every woman is born with fixed number of eggs that will be available for conception during her reproductive life. The average number of eggs that women are born with is around one to two million and by the time they hit puberty roughly 300,000 eggs remain. As a woman ages the supply of eggs decreases in number and genetic quality, and she therefore has fewer chances to conceive. Ovarian rejuvenation is a process whereby the ovaries are stimulated artificially to induce follicle growth and produce eggs for fertilization. It thus gives women the chance to conceive using their own genetic material Women always have eggs inside their ovaries but many of these eggs are dormant. Even postmenopausal women still have on average 1,000 dormant eggs inside their ovaries. These dormant eggs can be stimulated and re-awakened for maturation and development and also potentially improve egg quality. Ovarian rejuvenation is a newly pioneered procedure . Using this newly developed techniques, women who have suffered early menopause or other conditions which limit fertility may still conceive using their own eggs. This may be the preferable option for some women, rather than using donor eggs. The procedure of ovarian rejuvenation is relatively painless and may be worth an attempt before moving on to other treatments.
1) Low Ovarian Reserve
2) Women with Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI)
3) Women with early menopause . These includes women under the age of 38 who are either postmenopausal or perimenopausal for less than 5 years.
In ovarian rejuvenation we inject a patient’s ovaries with her own platelet- rich plasma. PRP is a concentrated solution of growth factors and cytokines taken from a sample of whole blood. When introduced into the ovaries and uterine cavity, PRP stimulates cellular rejuvenation and blood flow, naturally and effectively enhancing the fertility. This involves a two-step process in which the patient’s own blood is drawn. The platelets and white blood cells in the blood sample are then separated by centrifugation, so that the platelets can be isolated for use. The patient’s ovaries are then injected with their own platelet-rich plasma under transvaginal ultrasound guidance in order to stimulate the ovaries. The procedure is performed under sedation with an anaesthetic agent
Ovarian Rejuvenation is a cutting-edge fertility procedure that is still considered experimental but offers new hope to a lot of women.
